Lufthansa Changes to A350-900 on Frankfurt-São Paulo Route

Lufthansa currently operates five weekly flights between Frankfurt and São Paulo on Boeing 747-8i, fitted with 364 seats. The German company was one of the few companies that never suspended operations to the Brazilian city due to COVID-19, while a large part of its competitors canceled their flights to Guarulhos airport.

Load factors on the route are not entirely good, understandable due to the great crisis caused by the Coronavirus. The cargo carried on the flights is something that can improve the numbers, but they are still far from what Lufthansa had until March.

For this reason, Lufthansa will make changes to the Frankfurt – São Paulo route. For the first time, after many years, the company will stop flying Boeing 747s, to operate daily with Airbus A350-900 XWBs starting December 1. These aircraft features 293 seats in three classes.

Although this means an increase in current capacity from 1.820 to 2.051 seats per week in each way, it will be lower than what it was offered before the COVID-19 outbreak.
