Uruguay: Copa Airlines resumed its flights to Montevideo with the Boeing 737 MAX 9

This Monday March 15 at 12:26 a.m. local time, the first Copa Airlines flight from Panama City operated in a Boeing 737 MAX 9 landed at Carrasco International Airport. The aircraft that completed the flight, with registration HP-9903CMP, was delivered to the airline in October 2018.

This operation marked th,e return of the MAX to the Uruguayan capital. Aerolíneas Argentinas and GOL Linhas Aéreas had operated some flights to Montevideo from Argentina and Brazil respectively in 2018.

In November 2019, the company had planned to operate in Montevideo with the Boeing 737 MAX 9 as of March 1, 2020, but finally they did not start and continued to be operated with the Boeing 737-800 configured with 154 seats, while the MAX have 166 places.

In addition to the change of aircraft, Copa Airlines will increase frequencies between the capitals of Panama and Uruguay. It is expected that the company will operate again a daily flight starting March 23.
