Air Nostrum was distinguished for the maintenance of its CRJ

Air Nostrum was declared continental winner in the MHIRJ (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Regional Aviation) awards granted in recognition of the companies that achieve the highest percentage of technical reliability in their CRJ aircraft thanks to the maintenance services they provide (in 2019 Mitsubishi acquired the CRJ program to Bombardier).

The Spanish airline achieved the 2020 Reliability Performance Award for Europe in the CRJ100 / 200 (up to fifty seats) and CRJ700 / 900/1000 (up to one hundred seats) categories. It is the ninth distinction achieved by Air Nostrum over the years, consolidating its leadership in European regional aviation.

«To be eligible for the award, airlines had to achieve a dispatch reliability equal or greater than 99% operating commercial passenger flights throughout 2020. In the case of Air Nostrum, the efficiency of its maintenance services has enabled it to achieve a 99.35% level of dispatch reliability for the CRJ200, and 99.58% for the CRJ900 and CRJ1000, the models that make up the bulk of the airline’s fleet,» explained from the company.

In 2020, the company independently established the maintenance area, under the name ANEM (Air Nostrum Engineering and Maintenance Operations SL), in order to promote the provision of maintenance services, modifications and technical adaptations of all kinds of aircraft, engines and auxiliary equipment, on their own or outsourced, as well as the purchase, sale and rental of all types of material and spare parts related to the construction and operation of these.

During the pandemic, the company focused on the work of preservation of aircraft that were not operating, exhaustive maintenance checks and gradually covering the daily operations as the flights were resumed, in principle the essential ones and under the Obligations of Public Service (OSP) program, to advance towards the general operation.

From Air Nostrum they highlighted that this allowed them to be the airline with the largest number of operations in the 48 airports of the Aena network during the first quarter of 2021. In the case of the Manises airport (VLC), the figure reached 704 flights, doubling the second place (344).

Air Nostrum’s fleet is made up of 8 CRJ200, 4 CRJ900, 27 CRJ1000 and 11 ATR 72. And its network as a regional airline franchised by Iberia covers 110 routes that link 24 Spanish cities and 20 in Europe and North Africa.
