Global Crossing Airlines (GlobalX) signed a leasing agreement with Avolon to add a third passenger aircraft to its fleet. The aircraft is an Airbus A320-214 that will join the fleet after receiving final approvals from regulators.

Ed Wegel, President and CEO of GlobalX, announced that «we are pleased to be working with Avolon, one of the largest lessors in the world. This aircraft fits perfectly into our operational plans, both current and future.»

The aircraft was previously in the possession of a «major Asian operator», whose name was not disclosed. It will be delivered to GlobalX in September 2021, after completing a D check (the most complete an aircraft undergoes).

GlobalX received its first aircraft in January. It will begin providing passenger service after meeting the final US DOT requirements. It currently owns an A320 and an A321, which it plans to use for routes in the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.
