The MC-21-310 prototype with Russian engines is becoming a reality. Continuing with the preparations for the first flight, checks are being carried out for the power plant, where the installation of the hood fins and thrust reversers was completed, aiming to have the aircraft ready for ground tests at different speeds.

In a clear commitment to local industry and with the objective of avoiding future embargoes, the construction of this aircraft and the decision to supply it with domestic engines represent a very important step for Russian civil aviation, said Anatoly Serdyukov, industrial director of Rostec.

This aircraft will be equipped with PD-14 engines, and it recently left the final assembly workshop to begin its ground tests, where the performance of the new Irkut aircraft will be evaluated. The design and manufacture of PD-14 engine were executed by United Engine Corporation and involved the change in the name of the initial prototype MC-21-300 to MC-21-310.
