Finally, as we anticipated, Aerolíneas Argentinas confirmed the operation that will allow it to access 12 Embraer E195-E2 from 2024. The incorporation of these aircraft will reinforce the airline’s regional and short-distance offer, which will gradually be deprogramming part of its Embraer E190AR fleet.

In July of this year, Aviacionline reported that the company had opened the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage that initiated this exchange. In mid-August, the top executives of Aerolíneas Argentinas had traveled to São Paulo to finalize the technical-financial aspects of the operation.

In an event held on October 10 at Aeroparque, the president of Aerolíneas, Pablo Ceriani, thanked Embraer executives who were at the event.

«With this agreement we managed to modernize our fleet, increase productivity and reduce the cost per seat. Having a partner like Embraer who supports us and accompanies us on this path of growth is a very important endorsement,» Ceriani said later through a statement.

Martyn Holmes, commercial director of Embraer said that at Embraer they are «delighted that Aerolíneas has selected the E195-E2 as a replacement for their E190-E1. The E2 is recognized as the quietest single-aisle airplane and with the highest fuel efficiency available, cheaper to maintain and with the lowest travel cost in the narrowbody segment, with seat costs similar to those of larger narrowbody airplanes.»

«The performance of the airplane, its reduced environmental impact and the comfort of the 2×2 seating of the airplane, without middle seats and with huge internal luggage compartments, will be a significant change for Aerolíneas and its passengers,» he added.

The company expects that the new airplane, with better efficiency and cost per passenger, will boost the yields in the segment it serves. The cabin will be configured with two classes and 136 seats, instead of the current 96 of the E190.
