Lufthansa Technik strengthens partnership with Frontier Airlines

Lufthansa Technik will provide maintenance services for Frontier AirlinesAirbus A320 Family aircraft following the signing of a five-year contract, which includes digital diagnostic services for aircraft through the AVIATAR platform.

Frontier Airlines plans to perform maintenance operations for approximately 300 aircraft in Puerto Rico over the next five years. Previously, Lufthansa Technik’s U.S. base maintenance centers completed a one-year, single-line base maintenance service cooperation. Lufthansa Technik has also supplied spare parts to the U.S. airline for years.

Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico (LTPR) specializes in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of Airbus A320 family aircraft. The plant’s strategic location in the Caribbean allows it to serve its customers in North, Central, and South America. The company occupies an area of 215,000 square feet of modern facilities and 5 production lines at the Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla, employing a team of more than 400 highly qualified professionals.

Based on the results of our initial partnership with Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico, we are pleased to expand the relationship with this multi-year aircraft maintenance services agreement. Their base maintenance, component support, and AVIATAR platform will help support our focus on efficient, high-quality maintenance programs,” said Jeffrey Moore, Vice President of Technical Operations for Frontier Airlines.

We seek to support all aspects of base maintenance for Frontier Airlines and our other customers through our ongoing commitment to excellence, quality, and safety on every project. To achieve this, we plan to integrate additional contracted services for Frontier Airlines into upcoming maintenance activities, such as component support, and introduce new digital solutions,” said Joerg Speri, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico.

Frontier Airlines also signed a long-term agreement to fully utilize AVIATAR. The ultra-low-cost airline will benefit from many digital products, from predictive health analytics to status monitoring. AVIATAR condition monitoring incorporates data from a variety of sources to provide an unprecedented overview of aircraft condition and parts.

Predictive condition analysis can predict problems, reduce downtime, transform maintenance events and provide proactive recommendations to improve component troubleshooting efficiency. This reduces maintenance costs and prevents operational incidents, delays or AOG.
