Aeromexico received last Saturday its first Boeing 737 MAX 9 of five that will be delivered in the coming weeks. These aircraft are acquired via long-term leasing from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).
The aircraft with the XA-IMH registration arrived on May 29, and then on June 2, the XA-MAZ followed it. According to the company, a third MAX 9 will join before the end of the month.
Aeroméxico’s Boeing 737 MAX 9s have 16 seats in business class, 18 in AM Plus and 147 in tourist class, accommodating a total of 181 passengers. Commercial operations with the model are expected to begin in the second half of June.
Currently, the MAX 8s are being operated on routes to Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Tijuana, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco from Mexico City.
Aeroméxico declared that June will close with eight Boeing 787-8s, ten Boeing 787-9s, 33 Boeing 737-800s, seven Boeing 737 MAX 8s, three Boeing 737 MAX 9s and 47 ERJ 190s from Aeroméxico Connect; totaling 108 aircraft in its fleet.
