Alaska Airlines is targeting the winter break in North America and offers direct flights to the tourist destinations best known for their warm and sunny climates. This is how, among other new routes, it will offer two direct weekly flights between San Francisco and Cancun from December 16.
Alaska Airlines vice president of networks and alliances, Brett Catlin, said that since March, reservations for leisure travel have exceeded what they were before the pandemic and sees the large number of vaccinated already in the region as a cause.

All these new vacation routes are part of a series of new destinations that have recently been announced as the new direct service to Belize from Los Angeles and Seattle in November.
Regarding the San Francisco – Cancún route, without a doubt one of the main attractions, according to information obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Alaska Airlines will operate it with the Boeing 737-900 with capacity for 178 passengers. Therefore, when flying twice a week, the total offer for this route will be 356 seats.
This route in December will compete directly with JetBlue and United. The first, operating a daily flight with its A320neo. United, for its part, will operate the B737-900ER with 17 weekly flights.
