On May 6, 2019 JetSMART had inaugurated its operations between Neuquen and Salta, starting an unprecedented route in the country. Both Argentine cities had never been connected non-stop, forcing passengers to make a connection in Buenos Aires or Cordoba.

When this route was announced in February 2019, there was great interest from the public due to the possibility of being able to connect two cities of great importance in Argentina, and with strong links due to the oil industry.

Last February we announced in Aviacionline that Aerolíneas Argentinas planned to inaugurate operations between Salta and Neuquén in June. The airline scheduled two weekly flights on Boeing 737-800s, configured with 170 seats.

Finally, due to COVID-19, the restrictions and their impact on demand, Aerolíneas Argentinas cancelled the June start-up, postponing until September 3 the new operations.

This will cause that a route that was unpublished until 2019 will now have the concurrence of two airlines with up to four weekly flights, which is always good news for passengers.

With a possible relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions and the increase in demand, it is expected that supply will follow.

JetSMART Argentina will offer the most seats, with 372, followed by Aerolíneas Argentinas with approximately 200.
