Iberia increases frequencies between Bogota and Madrid

As of February 1, Iberia will have two daily direct flights between Madrid and Bogota operated by Airbus A350 with a capacity for 348 passengers.

As a result, the airline will increase its flights between Bogota and the Spanish capital from ten to fourteen weekly frequencies, surpassing the pre-pandemic capacity of the route.

Iberia also announced the recovery of its direct route between Cali and Madrid with three weekly frequencies starting in December on Airbus A330/200 aircraft.

Iberia’s announcements confirm the Spanish airline’s commitment to Colombia following the lifting of health restrictions between the two countries. Iberia currently offers 12 domestic code-share connections to: Armenia, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cartagena, Cúcuta, Leticia, Medellín, Montería, Pereira, San Andrés, Santa Marta and Yopal.

Moreover, the increase in frequencies and the reactivation of the route to Cali will favor the flow of travelers between both sides of the Atlantic flying for business, tourism or to visit friends and family.

The A350 assigned to Bogota

The A350 is the most advanced and sustainable aircraft in Iberia’s fleet.

Following the pandemic, the airline scheduled its A350s on the Madrid – Bogota route, after retiring the A340s after 24 years of operation.

The Airbus A350-900 has some of the most advanced features in terms of sustainability. It has Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines that make it the quietest in the fleet and a range of 14,800 km. Likewise, the aircraft consumes 25% less fuel than other models of similar capacity, thus reducing CO2 emissions.
