This morning, the Bell 212 helicopter of the Uruguayan Air Force, donated by the United States, arrived at the international airport of Carrasco (Montevideo).
The helicopter, whose registration number is N845RL, was donated by the U.S. Southern Command and the Office of Defense Cooperation of the U.S. Embassy in Uruguay.
The new acquisition comes to replace the loss of FAU 030, another Air Force Bell 212, which crashed in March this year during health assistance tasks in the fight against the Covid 19 pandemic. This aircraft will receive the registration FAU 034 and will be operated by Air Squadron No. 5.
One of the FAU’s KC-130Hs, recently acquired from the Spanish Air Force surplus, was in charge of going to the United States to pick up the helicopter and bring it to Uruguay.
