Viva to implement GE Digital software to optimize operations

Viva - Colombia - Airbus A320neo

Viva acquired a software suite of solutions from GE Digital to develop its sustainability goals from optimizing operations and maximizing emissions reductions.

Fuel Insight from GE Digital and FlightPulse® for fuel consumption optimization, and Flight Analytics, which collects and analyzes flight data from multiple systems to enhance operational and safety procedures, are the developments that the airline will begin to apply to its operation.

In general, Viva will apply data from systems to improve safety and reduce carbon emissions from fully-automated data quality checks and error correction. This will allow the airline to obtain better information and with less human intervention.

«Viva is one of the fastest-growing airlines in Colombia and South America», said Felix Antelo, President and CEO of Viva Air. «This year, we have added 14 of 50 new aircraft performing more than 3,100 flights per month. Our mission is to provide consistency and affordable service to customers, promoting a low-cost model in the region with sustainability and efficiency. These software solutions will enable us to fulfill that mission».

Andrew Coleman, General Manager of GE Digital’s Aviation Software Business, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of aviation sustainability. «Data and analytics provide a road map for airlines to evaluate interactions between operational systems to maximize sustainability. We are proud to work with Viva Air to further their goals and the goals of the industry in the region», he mentioned.

Applications in detail

GE Digital’s Flight Analytics: helps airline operators, managers and pilots improve flight safety by collecting and analyzing flight data from multiple systems to help optimize operational procedures and overall airline safety.

Fuel Insight: is a cost and emissions reduction solution that works by understanding real aircraft and airline data.

FlightPulse: is a fully configurable, modular electronic flight bag (EFB) application that puts key data for operational decisions directly into the hands of pilots.

Thanks to this software, Viva will become the first low-cost airline in Colombia to use flight analysis in its operations.
