Azul, through its subsidiary Azul Conecta, will inaugurate this week flights linking Curitiba with ten cities in the interior of the state of Paraná, in southern Brazil, which will be operated in Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft with a capacity for nine passengers.
Therefore, this expansion is possible thanks to Voe Paraná, the largest regional aviation promotion program in Brazil, which also includes modernization works at 14 airports for BRL 1,500,000,000 (~ USD 275,000,000).
Yesterday, Monday 24, Azul initiated flights from Curitiba to Cianorte, Telêmaco Borba, Arapongas, Campo Mourão, Apucarana, Guaíra, Francisco Beltrão, Cornélio Procópio and União da Vitória, while this Tuesday it will be the turn of Umuarama, as reported by our partner media in Brazil, Aeroin. These cities are located mostly in the center-west of the state of Paraná and have between 50,000 and 100,000 inhabitants.
Schedule and Frequencies
The company has scheduled a frequency of three to four flights per week on each route. In Curitiba, customers will have the possibility of connecting with some 35 daily Azul flights to 12 different destinations. For instance Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Londrina, Maringá, Foz do Iguaçu, Cuiabá and Campo Grande.
«Certainly, these new routes are a boost in logistics and infrastructure in Paraná. With better travel conditions, more entrepreneurs will be interested in doing business in our state. Thus generating more jobs and income for Paranaenses,» said Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, Governor of Paraná.
«The key to development is integration between modalities, investing beyond highways. We are building the largest regional aviation program in the country. We are connecting medium-sized cities to any corner of the world and Azul is a partner in this initiative,» he added.
In conclusion, Ronaldo Veras, Azul’s Presidential Advisor, said, «I am used to saying that where one of our aircraft lands, progress takes off. When a destination has a regular air connection, the city becomes linked to all the regions, creating a new flow of corporate and leisure travel».
