Dario Flota, Director of the Tourism Promotion Council of the State of Quintana Roo at a conference at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2022) informed that Iberojet will increase frequencies between Spain and Cancun from 2 to 7 weekly frequencies for the month of May.
The company will offer from the Mexican Caribbean six weekly flights from Madrid (MAD) and one weekly flight from Barcelona (BCN), the latter of which will be brought forward from its planned debut in June. In addition, as of June 20, the company will launch a new destination in Mexico to Los Cabos (SJD).
The company will also reinforce its vacation offer from Portugal with a new route between Lisbon (LIS) – Cancun (CUN), starting April 3 with a weekly flight, the schedules are as follows:
- Flight 6O 863 LIS 15:25 – CUN 19:30
- Flight 6O 864 CUN 21:30 – LIS 12:40+1
Within the framework of FITUR 2022, Iberojet highlighted its commitment to promote the Mexican Caribbean as a tourist destination for travelers from the European Union and to continue offering air connectivity between the two regions.
Data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Statistics, in 2021, 173,482 passengers were flown between Spain and Cancun (CUN) in 520 air operations, one of the most popular long-haul destinations in Spain.
Iberojet in several of its routes where it operates competes against other leisure and Low Cost operators such as World2fly and LEVEL, where both companies have increased their presence in vacation destinations in Latin America.
