Aeromexico announced, after a thorough evaluation, that it will operate from Felipe Angeles International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Angeles – AIFA). In this way, the airline is reversing its previous decision to continue operating exclusively from AICM.

Through a press release, the airline highlighted that as of April it will connect AIFA with Merida and Villahermosa, offering customers «the highest number of frequencies in the market to fly from these two cities to AIFA or to the current AICM.»

Aeromexico stood reluctant to operate from the new terminal since its inception, and the sudden change of mind seems to validate AIFA’s need.

Andres Conesa, CEO of Aeromexico commented that «We are very pleased with this announcement because thanks to the efforts of all of us who make up Grupo Aeromexico, we are in the final stage of a profound restructuring and transformation process. This will allow us to emerge stronger. Thus making decisions like this one to benefit connectivity in our country, service to our customers, and job creation.»

The company indicates that the decision is the result of «network, location, and customer needs analyses. Plus taking advantage of the airport infrastructure in this terminal.»

The decision allows Aeromexico to reach the 43 domestic routes connecting to the Mexican capital.
