Air Canada and Aeromar announced the launch of an interline partnership that offers customers increased connectivity between destinations in Mexico and the Canadian airline’s global network via Mexico City, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.
Customers can now book flights on both airlines with a single ticket itinerary and experience the benefits of seamless check-in, boarding and baggage transfer throughout their journey. Tickets can be booked online at aircanada.com and through travel agents.
Air Canada currently has seven destinations in Mexico in its network, including: Cancun (CUN), Mexico City (MEX), Cozumel (CZM), Huatulco (HUX), Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (ZIH), Los Cabos (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) from its main hubs in Toronto (YYZ), Montreal (YUL), Calgary (YYC) and Vancouver (YVR), in addition to other Canadian destinations such as Ottawa (YOW), Halifax (YHZ), Quebec (YQB) and Winnipeg (YWG), with connections through the company’s extensive global network to more than 185 destinations worldwide.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Cirium platform, in the northern summer season Air Canada will offer 15,412 seats per week in 88 air operations, exceeding pre-pandemic levels, and plans to increase to more than 100 flights by next winter.
Aeromar’s domestic and international connecting destinations include Acapulco (ACA), Aguascalientes (AGU), Colima (CLQ), Ciudad Victoria (CVM), Flores/Tikal (FRS), Guadalajara (GDL), Havana (HAV), Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (ZIH), Ixtepec (IZT), Piedras Negras (PDS), Puerto Escondido (PXM), Tepic (TPQ) and Villahermosa (VSA).
The two air carriers have also committed to deepening cooperation in the form of a codeshare relationship and are currently implementing Aeromar as a partner in Air Canada’s Aeroplan program.
The partnership, scheduled for summer 2022, will be the only Mexico-based airline affiliated with Airplane, giving members more options to earn and redeem points onboard on all Aeromar-operated flights.
“Mexico is an extremely popular market for Canadian leisure travelers as well as a significant business market due to our countries’ trading relationship. We are very pleased to partner with Aeromar because it allows us to offer our customers convenient access to a wider range of destinations throughout Mexico”, said Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Air Canada.
«Aeromar is honored to partner with Air Canada, founding member of Star Alliance and highly regarded for its award-winning service, modern fleet, commercial innovation, and extensive global route network, and to enable its increased reach in Mexico. Canada and Mexico share very intense commercial and tourism ties, with air travel a key enabler for growth”, added Fabricio Cojuc, Aeromar’s Chief Network Officer.
