Wizz Air announced that it will support Ukrainian refugees by offering 100,000 free seats. The initiative will cover all flights in continental Europe departing from countries bordering Ukraine (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania).
The Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier is committed to helping refugees reach their final destinations, wherever they are. It added larger aircraft and additional flights from bordering countries to accompany the movement of refugees as needed.
In addition, Wizz Air recognizes that many refugees have already begun to move and maybe stranded elsewhere. As such, the airline will also offer a rescue fare of EUR 29.99 on all other flights except to the United Arab Emirates, Iceland, and the Canary Islands, to where the fare will be EUR 69.99.

The 100,000 free seats and redemption fares will be available for travel throughout March. Passengers must provide their Ukrainian passport/ID card number at the time of booking and show their Ukrainian passport/ID card at check-in.

Wizz Air in Eastern Europe
Wizz Air is the company with the largest presence in Eastern Europe. The crisis sparked by the war between Ukraine and Russia led to a 7% decrease in bookings.
Therefore, the humanitarian situation in Ukraine is becoming more complex on a daily basis, and it is estimated that almost one million Ukrainian citizens and residents have crossed the borders, according to the UN.
The network of destinations offered to refugees in the four aforementioned countries covers all major destinations in Europe.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, for March, Poland has 328,239 seats available departing from Wroclaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Katowice, Lublin, Poznan, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Szymany and Warsaw.
Romania is the second country, with 311,047 seats on offer from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara, Suceava, Bacau, Sibiu, Craiova and Targu-Murges.
Hungary follows in terms of supply, with 158,063 seats from Budapest and Debrecen. Slovakia has the smallest seat offer with 10,494 seats from Bratislava, Kosice and Tatry/Poprad.
