Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 published the call for bids for the contracting of works in the south commercial apron of Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, where four aircraft positions located in the former military terminal will be rearranged.
Within the framework of the modifications and improvements being carried out for the New Terminal of Aeroparque J. Newbery, as part of the AEP4495- Apron Sur project, 3 positions will be moved forward to comply with current regulations.
The platform will not increase the number of parking positions but will keep the same number of positions as in stage 1A, where these 3 positions were incorporated.
Likewise, the positions will be arranged according to what is planned in the future projects, such as the possibility of operating with double taxiing, the incorporation of 6 telescopic sleeves in the south terminal and the new Cargo Terminal (TCA).

For this reason, in this first instance, the current positions 18, 19, 67, 68 and 69 will be changed to new positions 18, 19, 67 and 68, all of them suitable for the remote operation of aircraft up to B737 MAX and A321neo.
Work to be carried out on the south apron
With the advance of the apron towards the former coastal avenue, the existing buildings corresponding to the AA2000 maintenance module, warehouses and Intercargo offices in the South Triangle will have to be demolished.
As requested in the bid, it was decided to modify the slope of the new apron towards the main taxiway, improving the runoff of liquid materials on the apron, since the material currently runs off towards the passenger area, aeronautical personnel and the coastal avenue.
Therefore, a drainage system will be built with a gutter with grating along the apron to capture the fluids coming from the aircraft parking stands.
North apron on hold
One of the most awaited works is the demolition of sector C, where the old control tower is located, which will allow the addition of some 40 thousand square meters to the more than 100 thousand square meters currently occupied by the commercial apron.

According to the documentation of these specific expansion works, they will be divided into two main stages:
- In the first, the current north vehicular parking lot will be demolished to make way for a new sector of the commercial apron that will have three positions for class C aircraft (737, A320, MD, E190).
- In a second stage, the new apron will be built over where Sector C is located today, adding two new positions and joining the new apron with the current one. As the current positions 1 and 2 (those facing the old tower) will be cancelled, the net gain will be four positions, although the six new ones will be with a beam once the terminal is expanded.
The works must await the completion of the north coastal landfill and the subsequent inauguration of the new multilevel vehicular parking lot.
