WestJet resumed flights to Denver

On Sunday May 22, WestJet resumed nonstop service between Calgary (YYC) and Denver (DEN) with twice-weekly flights: the airline will be the only Canadian carrier on this route. Flight WS 1570 took off from YYC at 11:41 local time and landed at 14:07 in DEN.

«Calgary and Denver share many similarities, as gateways to outdoor recreation rooted in Western culture, and this renewed connection will support future collaboration,» said Phil Washington, CEO of Denver International Airport.

Flight Itinerary

  • Calgary – Denver Flight WS 1570 YYC 11:20 – DEN 13:47 Thursday and Sunday.
  • Denver – Calgary Flight WS 1571 DEN 14:35 – YYC 16:59 Thursday and Sunday.

Flights will be operated on 132-seat, two-class (12 Premium Economy/120 Economy) Boeing 737-700 aircraft.

«These connections are critical to the recovery of international travel and tourism, and we look forward to stimulating business and leisure travel between the two destinations as we work to restore our network to pre-pandemic levels this summer,» said John Weatherill, WestJet’s Chief Commercial Officer.

WestJet inaugurated flights between Calgary and Denver in March 2018. The airline suspended operations on March 24, 2020, because of travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, Calgary (YYC) was one of Denver Airport’s (DEN) top Canadian destinations in terms of travel demand, the route moved of 100,000 passengers annually.

WestJet will offer Mile-High City travelers the option to connect to more than 20 cities in Canada through its main hub in Calgary (YYC).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, WestJet will have an offering of 32,712 seats per week on 212 air operations between Calgary and the United States, representing an increase in capacity of more than 7% over 2019, the schedule is as follows:

  • Atlanta (ATL) daily flights.
  • Nashville (BNA) three times weekly.
  • Boston (BOS) three times weekly.
  • Denver (DEN) twice weekly.
  • Houston – Intercontinental (IAH) 11 weekly flights.
  • New York (JFK) four times weekly.
  • Las Vegas (LAS) three flights daily.
  • Los Angeles (LAS) two flights daily.
  • Orlando (MCO) three times weekly.
  • Phoenix (PHX) two flights daily.
  • Palm Springs (PSP) five flights per week.
  • San Diego (SAN) four times a week.
  • San Francisco (SFO) two flights daily.
  • Orange County (SNA) three times a week.
