LAP, Lima’s airport concessionaire, announced that Jorge Chávez International will close for maintenance works on the runway between the end of August and the end of October during the night and early morning hours to minimize the impact on normal operations.
In November 2021, the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) informed airlines and other operators that between August 29 and October 29, maintenance works will be carried out that will require the closure of the runway between 02:00 and 05:00 hours in the early morning. This schedule was considered to have the least impact on regular operations, since only 3% of flights are scheduled within this period.
The work is part of the Annual Preventive Maintenance Plan for the runway and apron. LAP had announced the schedule of works to be carried out during the season, such as: removal of rubber, friction coefficient measurement, repainting of horizontal signage in the movement area and treatment of unpaved areas, all in strict compliance with the regulation and in accordance with the schedule communicated by the DGAC.
The concessionaire informed that during this time slot no flights have been formally scheduled for the works not to generate cancellations. Any situation that may have arisen must be resolved by the airline directly with its passengers.
