Aerolíneas Argentinas increases flights to Montevideo

Aerolíneas Argentinas will increase its flight frequency between Buenos Aires and Montevideo from 19 to 24 operations per week as from October.

The company highlighted that this expansion will boost inbound tourism by providing connections to and from Formosa, Jujuy, La Rioja, Mar del Plata, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero, Trelew and Ushuaia through Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, in addition to the other 26 destinations that make up its domestic network.

On the other hand, through Aeroparque, passengers from Montevideo will be able to connect with flights to Bogota, Lima, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Santiago de Chile and Sao Paulo.

«This expansion is part of the work we are carrying out in the markets of the region. A robust and varied offer in terms of frequencies, schedules and connection possibilities is key to continue boosting inbound tourism,» said Pablo Ceriani, president of Aerolíneas Argentinas.

The new flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, so that Aerolíneas Argentinas will have a minimum of three daily services between Buenos Aires and Montevideo, reaching four on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. They are operated with a mix of Embraer E190, Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The Argentine state-owned airline’s presence in Uruguay is complemented by four weekly flights between Buenos Aires and Punta del Este.

In September of this year, the number of seats offered between the capitals of Argentina and Uruguay stands 36.2% below what it was during the same month of 2019. Aerolíneas Argentinas is the only company serving that market after Amaszonas Uruguay ceased operations. With the new frequencies and modifications in the type of aircraft in November the gap will shrink to only -5.7%, totaling a monthly offer of 30,400 seats as can be seen in Cirium.
