Viva Aerobus is adding a new winter season service between Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) and Tijuana (TIJ), one of the company’s six operating bases.
With this new service, the low-cost carrier will provide its passengers with Cross Border Express (CBX) service, the pedestrian bridge that connects Tijuana Airport (TIJ) with San Diego. This route provides AIFA travelers with a new way to connect between Mexico and the United States.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) 2,113,168 passengers and 9,941.1 tons of cargo were mobilized in 2021 between Mexico City and Tijuana. This segment is the Mexican capital’s third largest domestic market, behind only Cancun (CUN) and Monterrey (MTY).
«We now connect Tijuana with both the new Mexico City airport, Felipe Angeles, and the AICM, thus deploying a range of options so that passengers can choose how it is more comfortable, agile and convenient for them to fly; of course, always with the lowest prices and in the newest aircraft,» said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
Flight Itinerary
- Mexico City – Tijuana Flight VB 5069 NLU 16:55 – TIJ 18:40 daily flights.
- Tijuana – Mexico City Flight VB 5070 TIJ 00:30 – NLU 05:55 daily flights.
The service will be available from December 14, 2022 to January 10, 2023 and promotional fares start at MXN 639 each way.
The Mexican low-cost airline’s domestic network on the AIFA consists of Acapulco (ACA), Cancun (CUN), Guadalajara (GDL), Monterrey (MTY), Oaxaca (OAX), Puerto Escondido (PXM), Tijuana (TIJ) and will soon have a new international service to Havana (HAV) starting December 14, 2022.
With this new route, Viva Aerobus strengthens air connectivity between the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico and Baja California. From Tijuana, the operator offers service to Leon/Guanajuato (BJX), Culiacan (CUL), Cancun (CUN), Guadalajara (GDL), Mexico City (MEX), Morelia (MLM), Monterrey (MTY), Mazatlan (MZT), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), San Jose del Cabo (SJD) and now AIFA.
The carrier continues to strengthen its operations at General Abelardo L. Rodriguez International Airport (TIJ). In the January-September 2022 period, Viva Aerobus increased the number of passengers to/from Tijuana by 68% compared to 2021 levels, adding more than two million travelers.
