Avianca will start flights between San Salvador and Cancun next 1 June. The company will offer a frequency of three weekly operations operated by Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 180 passengers. In this way, it will provide around 4.300 seats per month between the two cities.
Tickets can now be purchased through the company’s various official sales channels.
«We are committed to expanding direct connectivity from San Salvador to the Central and North American region», said Reyna Mejía, Avianca’s Regional Sales Manager. «Cancun joins the list of new direct routes that we will launch in 2023, so that Salvadorans can access their favourite destinations more easily and quickly, avoiding stopover times at other airports», she added.

Avianca schedule of flights between San Salvador and Cancun
- San Salvador (SAL) – Cancun (CUN): flight AV 650. Departure: 10:30; arrival: 13:30 (local time). Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
- Cancun (CUN) – San Salvador (SAL): flight AV 650. Departure: 14:10; arrival: 14:50 (local time). Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The new route is part of Avianca’s plan to strengthen connectivity to and from El Salvador. From the inauguration of services to Cancun, the company will have a network of 21 direct destinations from the Central American country. In addition, new routes are expected to be launched during 2023.
It is also part of a wider initiative to promote tourism in Central America. Earlier this month, Avianca launched its «Centroamérica es para vivirla» (Central America is for living it) campaign, which aims to promote travel in the region through affordable fares for flights between Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
Recently, the company announced that it will add twelve weekly flights between San José de Costa Rica (SJO), San Salvador (SAL) and Guatemala City (GUA).
