On Monday, July 3rd, SKY inaugurated its new international route Lima – Sao Paulo. The inaugural flight 5564 departed for São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport at 23:40, with an occupancy of 85%.
José Raúl Vargas, General Manager of SKY in Peru, emphasized the company’s growth strategy in the region and the goal of establishing itself as the preferred low-cost airline in Latin America. Vargas also highlighted that the opening of this new route will enhance cultural and economic exchange between Peru and Brazil.
During the event, Madeleine Burns, Deputy Minister of Tourism, expressed her pleasure at the strengthening of ties with the various entities present and highlighted the work carried out in the creation of strategies to promote tourism. In her words, this new route will allow more tourists to enjoy the variety of destinations and gastronomy that Peru offers.
For his part, Felipe Antunes, counselor of the Brazilian Embassy, expressed his satisfaction at the start of operations of SKY’s new route, and highlighted the joint work of the governments of Brazil and Peru, as well as of the airlines, to intensify connections between both countries.
As part of its expansion strategy, SKY will offer four weekly flights between Lima and Sao Paulo, projecting to transport around 5,800 passengers per month. In view of the positive response to the new route, the airline plans to increase frequencies in the coming months. According to SKY, this step represents a further advancement in its internationalization strategy in Latin America, using Lima as a key regional connection point, accompanied by state-of-the-art aircraft and low-cost fares.
Currently, in addition to Sao Paulo, SKY’s international network in Lima covers Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires/Ezeiza, Punta Cana, and Cancún.
