LATAM Airlines has announced the launch of sales for its new direct route between Lima (LIM), Peru, and London/Heathrow (LHR), United Kingdom, scheduled to begin on December 1, 2023, with up to five weekly flights.

For LATAM, it is the second destination to the Old Continent from Lima since it operates daily to Madrid (MAD), Spain. On the other hand, Jorge Chavez International Airport adds a fourth link to Europe.

Furthermore, this would be the resumption of operations between the United Kingdom and Peru. The last flight between Lima (LIM) and London/Gatwick (LGW) was operated by British Airways in October 2019, with three weekly frequencies using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. During 2019, the company transported 43,100 passengers, according to the Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications.

At the beginning of June, we informed that Airport Coordination Limited (ACL), the main body responsible for coordinating slots at dozens of airports worldwide, had revealed that LATAM Airlines Peru reserved slots to operate flights between London/Heathrow (LHR), United Kingdom, and Lima (LIM), Peru, during the next winter season 2023/24.

Schedule of flights between Lima and London by LATAM

Starting December 1, 2023.

This link will be operated on Boeing 787-9 aircraft with a capacity for 313 passengers, divided into 30 in business class and 283 in economy, offering a weekly supply of 3,130 seats.

For LATAM, it is the sixth route that will be added in Lima this year reaching 34 international destinations. To date, it has announced Caracas (CCS), Venezuela (from August 1); Atlanta (ATL), United States (from October 29); Foz de Iguaçu (IGU), Brazil (from November 1); Salta (SLA), Argentina (from December 1); and Aruba (AUA) (from December 2).

“We are very excited about the start of this operation. With our direct flights to London Heathrow International Airport, we become the first Peruvian airline to fly to London directly. This, together with the extensive deployment at the beginning of operations in the last months of the year, continues to strengthen our commitment to the country and the Peruvians,” said Manuel van Oordt, CEO of LATAM Airlines Peru.
