Emirates expands its presence in Mexico by broadening partnership with United

Emirates will significantly expand its codeshare partnership with United to incorporate nine Mexican destinations. Emirates customers will be able to access eight new destinations in the country in addition to its Mexico City operations. Tickets to codeshare destinations in Mexico will be available through the airline’s website and travel agents from September 14.

The extensive codeshare network between Emirates and United currently serves a large number of U.S. cities. In addition, Mexico becomes the first country outside the U.S. to be added to the growing network.

The codeshare partnership offers travelers seamless connections, allowing travelers flying Emirates from Chicago or Houston to connect to leisure destinations in Mexico. New Mexican destinations include Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Jose del Cabo, Leon/Guanajuato and Queretaro.

The codeshare partnership provides customers with more flexibility in flight schedules. Passengers can now choose to fly to Mexico City using Emirates’ daily services from Dubai with a stopover in Barcelona, or book separate flights to the Mexican capital through United. The expanded codeshare network also offers customers from the nine Mexican cities to fly to destinations in the airline’s network via Houston or Chicago.

Emirates expects the expanded network of Mexican destinations to be popular with customers from the Middle East, India and South Africa. The most frequented destinations for global travelers flying from destinations in Mexico include India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and select cities in Southeast Asia.

With the addition of the new Mexico destinations, the optimized codeshare network now includes 134 destinations from United’s U.S. hubs, while nearly 100 additional destinations in the United States, Canada, Central America, South America and the Caribbean are available on an interline basis.

Emirates provides daily flights to Houston on Airbus A380s with new cabins and daily service to Chicago operates on Boeing 777-300ERs. Customers can now travel on a single ticket and have greater benefits on their flights including the airline’s free baggage allowance and convenient baggage check-in to their final destination. Members of the Emirates Skywards frequent flyer program will be able to earn and redeem miles on flights on both airlines when booked on codeshare flights.
