Emirates schedules the Airbus A380 to Osaka

Emirates is expanding its offering in Japan with the addition of the Airbus A380 to its Osaka-Kansai service from June 1, 2024. The superjumbo to be deployed will have a four-cabin configuration including the new Premium Economy product and refurbished First, Business, and Economy cabin interiors.

The four-class A380 replaces the current Boeing 777-300ER operation on the EK316/317 service and will add 910 seats per week between Dubai and Osaka. The airline allows travelers to connect to Milan, Madrid, Sao Paulo, Paris, and London.

Emirates celebrated its 20th anniversary on its Dubai and Osaka service last year and, during that time, the airline moved more than 220,000 passengers a year on more than 360 flights between the destinations in 2023. Emirates’ four-class A380 configuration features 14 First Class suites, 76 Business Class seats, 56 Premium Economy seats, and 335 Economy seats.

In December 2023, Emirates introduced Premium Economy service on the Dubai-Tokyo Narita route and has been added to 14 other destinations including New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Sao Paulo and Dubai.

The airline’s A380 operations at Kansai International Airport come when Japan is expecting an increase in tourism thanks to attractions in the Kansai region such as Osaka and Kyoto. Emirates also offers a daily service to Tokyo Narita operated on four-class A380s and a daily flight to Tokyo Haneda on Boeing 777-300ERs.
