The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC), the civil aviation regulatory authority of Venezuela, announces that it has signed agreements with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for the activation of commercial flight operations between the two countries.
At an event held in the city of Beijing, China, representatives from both authorities signed the necessary agreements to initiate the air bridge between the South American and Asian countries.
The operations will be carried out by the Venezuelan state airline CONVIASA. According to INAC, this measure represents an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between the nations, as well as an opportunity to promote tourism, commercial exchange, and strategic development in areas of mutual interest, our associate medium, Aeroin, reports.
«The alliance between Venezuela and the Asian giant will facilitate connectivity between these states, allowing passengers to enjoy a quality and safe service. Additionally, it will contribute to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation, initiated 50 years ago, on June 28, 1974,» describes the Venezuelan aviation authority in its statement on the measure.

With these protocols formalized, commercial flights between these destinations are expected to commence in the coming months.
In April, Conviasa’s international network includes flights to Havana, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Cancun, Moscow, Mexico City, Kingstown, Bridgetown, Manaus, and Managua. Over the last year, the Venezuelan state airline also operated some flights to Tehran and Damascus.
South America does not have direct flights that connect it with China, but this will change by the end of the month when Air China resumes its operations to Sao Paulo from Beijing with a layover in Madrid, after four years.
