Thai Airways resumes its connection between Thailand and Australia with the return of its nonstop flights between Bangkok and Perth with a daily operation, the route was suspended in March 2020 due to the pandemic. The airline also offers two daily flights to Melbourne and Sydney.
The inaugural flight TG 481, operated on March 31, 2024, on a Boeing 787 registered as HS-TQF. The aircraft departed Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 08:17 local time and arrived at Perth Airport at 15:29, after six hours and eleven minutes.
«The return of this service will bring 186,368 seats and 14,000 tonnes of cargo capacity per annum to the Perth market. Thailand is a popular vacation destination and Bangkok is a major airline hub with worldwide connections so that Western Australians will enjoy increased air connectivity for business or pleasure,» said Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s commercial and aviation director.
Thai Airways’ route to Bangkok is the second international service to open in Perth this year, following Air Asia X with flights to Kuala Lumpur. Also expected is the resumption of South African Airways’ route to Johannesburg and new services from Qantas to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Jetstar Airways to Bangkok, Phuket, and Singapore.

The route is operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which has 256 seats configured with 22 Business Class and 234 Economy seats.
