At the Farnborough International Airshow, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) signed a definitive Purchase Agreement with an undisclosed airline to acquire a Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.

The Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft provides unrivaled Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) capability and acts as a regional connectivity transportation solution worldwide while offering flexible quick-change interior options in its configurable 19-passenger cabin. Additionally, its exceptional performance capabilities allow for effective industrial support, critical infrastructure, environmental monitoring, special missions, and cargo transport operations.
Additionally, the company received a firm order for a Twin Otter Guardian 400 aircraft from an undisclosed European country for surveillance missions. The Twin Otter Guardian 400 aircraft is designed to meet the unique operational requirements of this police force and is equipped with a certified Airborne Technologies’ mission system. Key aircraft features include versatility, allowing for easy adaptation to a wide range of operational requirements; durability, with capabilities to operate in challenging weather conditions; and reliability, with a strong record of dependable performance.

The Twin Otter’s development began in the early 1960s, with its first flight in 1965. It quickly gained a reputation for reliability and versatility, particularly in harsh environments. The Series 400, reintroduced by Viking Air in 2007, features modernized avionics and over 400 improvements, including enhanced safety systems and more powerful engines. This variant continues to serve in various roles globally, demonstrating the enduring legacy of the Twin Otter design.
