Azul Linhas Aéreas released its financial results for the third quarter of 2024 during a teleconference, in which Abhi Shah, the airline’s president, announced that the next order for A330neo aircraft is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.
This year, the company added a total of four aircraft from the A330 family, two of which were acquired on the secondary market (ex-Air Asia and the A330-900neo model), while the other two came from other operators. All of these are already in operation.
Two more aircraft
Abhi also explained that, having considered adding two more used A330neo aircraft in early 2025, the company decided «it’s best not to bring them into service now and instead prioritize the direct delivery of new units ordered from Airbus, scheduled for December next year,» as reported by Aeroin.
These two A330neo aircraft are primarily those operated by Air Belgium, with registrations OO-ABG and OO-ABF, which will cease flying for the Belgian airline in March and October of this year, respectively.
Consequently, in Brazil, the registrations PR-ANF and PR-ANE have been reserved, but there are no recent developments indicating their departure from Europe for delivery to Azul.
Global challenges
CEO John Rodgerson highlighted the global challenges related to the supply of aircraft engines, which impact both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, such as the A330.
“For this reason, it was important to secure the aircraft used this year. However, we will advance our next orders with our own specifications,” Rodgerson stated.
