Play will add four aircraft of the A320neo family to its fleet

As part of its expansion plan, PLAY announced the addition of four A320neo family aircraft. The Icelandic low-cost airline, based at Reykjavík’s Keflavík International Airport, will now have a fleet of seven aircraft of the series.

PLAY currently operates three A321neo, that operate to to Copenhagen, London-Stansted, Alicante, Berlin, Paris, Tenerife, and Barcelona. In addition, on December 22 it will start operations to Gran Canarias, and on January 22 it will start operations to Salzburg.

In order to take advantage of Iceland’s privileged geographical location, it will now add four more of the family’s aircraft. These ones are three A320neo and one A321neo. They will be leased from GECAS and are expected to arrive between the autumn of 2022 and the spring of 2023.

Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY, said in a press release, «We are delighted to add these aircraft to our fleet. Our long-term goal is to make PLAY a leading brand in our market. On the other hand, Alan Buckley, GECAS Director for the region, noted that «these aircraft will enable PLAY to build a wider route network to meet future travel demand».
