Oneworld effect! Alaska Airlines announces flights to Miami

After a decade of not flying to one of the most important airports in Florida, Alaska Airlines is expanding operations with its 100th nonstop destination from Seattle – Tacoma (SEA) to Miami (MIA) beginning June 16, 2022.

«We landed in a perfect location for our 100th nonstop destination from our home airport in Seattle. Miami is a cultural hub for travelers from around the world with its incredible life, nightlife, art, music, architecture, and food» said Brett Catlin, Alaska Airlines Vice President of Network and Alliances.

«With our new daily nonstop launch in June, we are connecting two cruise capitals just in time for the summer as we prepare easy fall getaways to South Florida, the Caribbean, and beyond» added Catlin.

With the introduction of its new service to Miami (MIA), one of American Airlines’ major hubs, the airline will be able to connect to more destinations through its Oneworld partners. Alaska Airlines passengers will be able to reach destinations such as Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The new service has the following itinerary:

  • Seattle – Miami Flight 305 SEA 07:15 – MIA 16:15 daily flights operated on Boeing 737-900s.
  • Miami – Seattle Flight 728 MIA 17:40 – SEA 21:10 daily flights operated by Boeing 737-900.

Alaska offers flights from Seattle – Tacoma to Florida, operating at Orlando (MCO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Tampa (TPA), and seasonal service to Fort Myers (RSW). With the Miami (MIA) announcement, the airline has now established a presence from all three of Florida’s major airports and the top airport for international passenger traffic.

«This is a great example of how SEA continues to serve the passenger traveling as one of the best-connected airports in the country, both nationally and internationally. Alaska has been an important partner in that vision» said Lance Lyttle, Managing Director of Seattle – Tacoma Airport (SEA).

«We look forward to welcoming Alaska Airlines to Miami-Dade County for the first time in 10 years», Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County, added.

Since 2012, Alaska Airlines has offered service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) from Seattle – Tacoma (SEA) , next summer will offer twice-daily flights, while during the northern winter season provides seasonal destinations from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Los Angeles (LAX), Portland (PDX), San Diego (SAN) and San Francisco (SFO).

Passengers flying from Florida can connect to other West Coast cities, Hawaii and Mexico from its main hub in Seattle – Tacoma (SEA), as well as redeem miles to fly on more of Oneworld’s 14 Oneworld airlines.
