ILS EANA Santa Rosa

Pursuant to the equipment replacement master plan, Empresa Argentina de Navegación Aérea (EANA) installed a new I.L.S. in Santa Rosa, at head 19 of the airport. The purpose of this measure is to improve the aerodrome’s operability, thereby allowing night operations and high-precision procedures.

Now then, what is the ILS system? It is an instrumental landing system (Instrumental Landing System). It consists of two signals, one vertical and the other lateral. In terms of equipment, it consists of a transmitter antenna on the ground that provides the localizer signal, and the transmitter antenna of the glide-slope, which is located on the side of the runway 300 meters before the touchdown point.

Likewise, another fundamental element for this airport is the link between the ILS equipment and the air traffic control tower, which allows ATC to monitor the status of the equipment that integrates the system remotely. While the ILS is in service, it will be tested with an Argentine Air Force aircraft. The stability, accuracy, and quality of the signal will be tested. Once this stage is completed and approved under international standards, the system will be officially put into service.

EANA comments that in addition to Santa Rosa, the ILS will be renewed in the following airports: Ushuaia, Bariloche, and Esquel, in addition to those recently put into service in Cordoba, Posadas, Resistencia, and Corrientes.
