American Airlines keeps expanding its operations in Austin (AUS), Texas, by adding new destinations in Mexico and Jamaica. The company inaugurated more than 14 routes from the Texas capital, with the objective of consolidating its position as the main airline in the face of the growing expansion the city is experiencing thanks to new companies moving there.

From Austin, American Airlines will fly to Cozumel (CZM) and Montego Bay (MBJ) starting June 11 with a weekly flight, reaching a total of 32 destinations in the Texas capital. They will be operated by American Eagle via Envoy Air on 76-seat Embraer 175 aircraft, equipped with 12 in first class and 66 in economy class.

«We are proud to reinforce our commitment to Austin by giving local customers more options to fly nonstop to popular destinations,» said Brian Znotins, Vice President of Network Planning for American Airlines. «Whether it’s to the beaches of Cozumel and Montego Bay, or to the dozens of other destinations we offer from Austin, we look forward to further connecting Central Texans to our global network,» he added.

Austin has become one of the most competitive cities in the United States and one in which American Airlines and Southwest have increased their rivalry. Both companies do their best to offer the widest range of destinations and flights, surpassing each other as the city’s main carrier.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, American will have 74 daily departures in July 2022 offering 71,934 seats per week, while Southwest has scheduled 108 daily departures and 114,050 seats per week.
