Sukhoi SSJ100 Superjet for Russia

Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has opened the tender to obtain local suppliers of parts for the SSJ100 family of aircraft. This will seek to replace imported parts, which is especially relevant «given the long-term forecast of the international political situation», according to the Ministry.

The bidding documents state that the purpose will be to carry out the «research and development work necessary for the development and testing of elements of national origin for the Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft». While the contract price is 15.6 billion rubles (about $145 million), the opening of envelopes will be held on April 4.

«The SuperJet 100 program is an important component of Russian transport sovereignty. It enabled the development of the network of low-demand destinations typical of most regions,» the material awarded to prospective bidders notes. To achieve the strengthening of the Russian aviation industry, it is planned to expand the SSJ family of aircraft. Such expansion involves creating a modification of the model, which will make maximum use of domestic products. The program will be called SSJ-New.

The ministry notes that to date the airframe design documentation has been completed and development work on the aircraft’s systems is underway. Also, some airframe components for the prototypes have been manufactured. According to the contract, the target date for completion is November 15, 2023, and the first ground and flight tests should be performed at that time.
