Air Canada Cargo inaugurates operations in Halifax

Air Canada Cargo made its first cargo flight from Halifax International Airport (YHZ) on April 20 with the carrier’s second Boeing 767-300ER to enter service.

The introduction of this new aircraft will allow the airline to expand its high-frequency direct cargo service from Halifax (YHZ) to Air Canada Cargo’s global network that includes destinations to Frankfurt (FRA), Cologne (CGN), Istanbul (IST) and Madrid (MAD) beginning in May.

The first Halifax (YHZ) operation was from Toronto – Pearson (YYZ) with cargo sourced from across Air Canada’s global network and destined for Atlantic Canada. Fresh lobster, fish, aerospace parts and pharmaceuticals will be loaded, from where those products will be shipped to their final destinations around the world.

This new service to Halifax (YHZ) complements Air Canada Cargo’s scheduled cargo service to Latin America.

Atlantic Canada schedule from Toronto – Pearson (YYZ)

  • Halifax (YHZ) six times weekly.

Europe schedule from Toronto (YYZ) starting May

  • Frankfurt (FRA) two flights a week.
  • Cologne (CGN) one flight a week.
  • Istanbul (IST) one flight a week.
  • Madrid (MAD) three flights a week.
