The Mexican ultra-low-cost airline, Viva Aerobus, continues to strengthen its domestic and international destination network. The airline is committed to improving its operations in Monterrey by announcing the inauguration of a domestic and two international routes.
Thus, the ultra-low-cost airline will begin operating the Monterrey – Cozumel route from July 1 with two weekly flights.
Regarding international operations, Viva Aerobus will start regular flights between Monterrey and Chicago O’Hare, previously only operated in winter, with three flights a week starting on July 15.
The carrier recalls that just a few weeks ago, it inaugurated, also as a regular service, the Monterrey – Los Angeles route with two weekly flights.
With point-to-point flights and modern aircraft, Viva Aerobus establishes itself as the leading airline in Monterrey, which is one of its five operating bases.
Currently, the Mexican ultra-low-cost airline operates thirty-five routes (27 domestic and 8 international) to Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Harlingen, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and recently, Havana.
With these operations, Viva Aerobus’ market share in Monterrey is 59%.
During April, Viva Aerobus passengers to/from the terminal increased by 38% compared to April 2021, with more than half a million passengers in a single month.
The Monterrey airport has been experiencing a traffic increase, and for this reason, a facilities expansion is being worked on, with a new extension, designed for low-cost airlines.
The terminal goal is to serve more than sixteen million passengers a year compared to the ten million it has been serving nowadays.
