Embraer released a video, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP), in which it showed for the first time, the first Portuguese KC-390.
Portugal is the first export customer for the KC-390 Millennium (and first in Europe), of which it ordered 5 examples in 2019, for $930 million. The purchase includes a flight simulator and logistics support for a 12-year extension.

The new KC-390s will replace the aging fleet of C-130H Hercules of the 501st «Bison» Squadron. The delivery of the last one should take place during 2027.
Since September 14, 2021, the future crews and ground personnel of the FAP’s KC-390s have been receiving training in Anapolis, home of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) Wing No. 2. As reported by the FAB, the preparation course lasts 3 months.
