SATA Azores Airlines will have non-stop services between Ponta Delgada (PDL) and Bilbao (BIO) with a weekly frequency for the 2023 boreal summer season. This will be the company’s third destination in Spain complementing the routes to Gran Canaria (LPA) and Barcelona (BCN).
Passengers arriving from Bilbao will be able to make connections through the airline’s transatlantic network, which includes multiple routes in the United States and Canada operated from its main hub at John Paul II Airport (PDL).
Flight Itinerary
- Ponta Delgada – Bilbao Flight S4 504 PDL 08:10 – BIO 13:00 Saturday.
- Bilbao – Ponta Delgada Flight S4 505 BIO 14:10 – PDL 15:20 Saturday.
The route will be operated on Airbus A321neo aircraft with a capacity of 186 seats in two classes (16 Business Class/170 Economy) and promotional fares are available from 144 euros each way. This service will be available from July 1, 2023, until September 30, 2023.
Ponta Delgada (PDL) will be the third Portuguese air connection to the province of Vizcaya and the only non-stop service to the Azores Islands, as well as complementing the routes to Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO).
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Estadísticas 172,081 passengers and 1,258 kilograms of cargo were mobilized in 1,258 air operations in 2019 between Bilbao Airport (BIO) and Portugal.
This new route will also increase the connectivity of John Paul II Airport (PDL) with Spain where up to four routes will be offered for next summer including: Iberia’s seasonal service to Madrid (MAD) and the three destinations of SATA Azores Airlines.
