On February 16th, 1979, Líneas Aéreas Paraguayas (LAP) inaugurated its regular flights to Europe. The first route to the continent was Madrid from Asunción, with a stopover in Rio de Janeiro.
Four days later, LAP began regular operations to Frankfurt with stops in the Brazilian city and the Spanish capital. These services started with Boeing 707-321Bs, and later had a mix with DC-8s.

Líneas Aéreas Paraguayas launched flights to Brussels, its third destination in Europe, on December 7th, 1982. As with Madrid and Frankfurt, operations had stopovers in Brazil.
Brussels, Frankfurt and Madrid were LAP’s routes to and from Europe in Asunción.

As a result of its severe economic crisis, Líneas Aéreas Paraguayas ceased flights to Europe in early 1994.
