This Tuesday (6) Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico announced the resumption of nonstop service between Detroit (DTW) and Monterrey (MTY) with four weekly flights. The last operation between the two companies on this route was in March 2020, this was suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Flight DL 1868 was operated by an Airbus A319 registered with registration N354NB, the aircraft took off from Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) at 09:53 local time and landed at General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (MTY) at 12:03, the flight lasted three hours and 10 minutes.
With the restart of this route, Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines reconnect two important business markets, offering more than 790 seats per week and bringing the number of routes served by the alliance to 47.
Flight Itinerary
- Detroit – Monterrey Flight DL 1868 DTW 09:48 – MTY 12:28 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Monterrey – Detroit Flight DL 1959 MTY 13:48 – DTW 18:20 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The route will be operated on Airbus A319-100 aircraft with a capacity of 132 seats in three classes (12 First Class Domestic/18 Delta Comfort+/102 Main Cabin).
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) 97,032 passengers were mobilized in 1,325 air operations in 2019 between Detroit (DTW) and Monterrey (MTY), it was the fourth busiest international route from General Mariano Escobedo Airport (MTY). Currently the alliance between Delta and Aeromexico holds a 20% share of the market between Mexico and the United States

According to Aeromexico’s reservation system and Cirium platform, starting October 17, the Mexican airline plans to start operating Detroit (DTW) and Monterrey (MTY) with four weekly flights, this service is subject to change.

- Detroit – Monterrey Flight AM 2722 DTW 08:30 – MTY 11:38 Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
- Monterrey – Detroit Flight AM 2723 MTY 13:30 – DTW 18:10 Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
The route will be operated in Embraer E190 aircraft with a capacity of 99 seats in two classes (11 Clase Premier/88 Clase Turista).
According to data obtained by Aviacioline through Grupo OMA statistics during the period between January and July 2022 at General Mariano Escobedo Airport (MTY) 725,489 passengers were mobilized, this represents a recovery of 89.2% compared to the same period in 2019.
