The United States is one of Iberia’s most important international markets and will remain so for the 2022/2023 boreal winter season, as it is the country where the company has the largest seat capacity for intercontinental flights.
During this boreal summer, the Spanish airline is operating in nine destinations in the U.S. that include: Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Washington Dulles (IAD) -both opened in June this year-, New York (JFK), Miami (MIA), Boston (BOS), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO) and San Juan (SJU).
With the upcoming northern winter season beginning October 29, the company is adding more frequencies and seats compared to the same period prior to the pandemic. The company has planned to offer 589,000 seats, a 15% increase over 2019, and about 2,000 flights, 21% more than the year before the COVID-19 crisis.
The Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) route, which was initially scheduled for the summer season, will be available year-round. During the northern winter it will have a three-flights-per-week operation and beginning in June 2023 will increase to daily flights.
Services to DFW will be operated on Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 292 seats configured in three classes (29 Business Class/21 Premium Economy/242 Economy Class).
Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) is the mega hub for American Airlines, a partner of Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus and Finnair that are part of a transatlantic Joint Venture for flights between the U.S. and Europe, which has helped generate enough traffic to keep this service operating year-round.
Its main U.S. markets will also see significant changes with respect to winter 2021, with Miami (MIA) increasing from 10 to 14 flights per week and New York (JFK) from 10 to 13 flights per week, increasing to 14 by March 2023.
From the U.S. West Coast it will increase capacity on its route to Los Angeles (LAX) from April 2023 where it will introduce the modern Airbus A350-900.
