Arajet is the second foreign airline to operate at Felipe Angeles International Airport

This Thursday (22) Arajet began operations between Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Mexico City (NLU) with three weekly flights. The Dominican airline becomes the second foreign operator to offer flights to Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA).

For the northern winter season, Arajet will offer 2,646 seats per week on 16 flights between Mexico and the Dominican Republic, making it the largest air operator in this market.

Flight DM 4340 was operated in a Boeing 737 MAX registered under registration number HI1078 and christened “Los Tres Ojos”, the aircraft took off from Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) at 07:58 local time and landed at Felipe Angeles International Airport at 11:12. The flight lasted four hours and 14 minutes, SDQ is NLU’s first Caribbean destination.

Arajet will continue to expand its operations in Mexico and by September 30 will begin two non-stop services to Monterrey (MTY) with two flights a week and Cancun (CUN) with three flights a week. The airline will be the only carrier to connect these cities with the Dominican Republic.

Flight Itinerary

  • Santo Domingo – Mexico City Flight DM 4340 SDQ 07:15 – NLU 09:40 Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • Mexico City – Santo Domingo Flight DM 4341 NLU 10:40 – SDQ 17:05 Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

The route will be operated in Boeing 737-8 aircraft with a capacity of 189 passengers in single configuration and promotional fares are available from USD 208 including taxes.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), 29,065 passengers were mobilized with an occupancy factor of 68.8% in 415 air operations between Mexico and the Dominican Republic during the period from January to July 2022. Santo Domingo (SDQ) is the main Caribbean market for the Aztec country.
