Emirates will increase its South African operations on its routes to Johannesburg (JNB), Cape Town (CPT) and Durban (DUR) in the coming months.
The airline will expand its schedule to Johannesburg (JNB) with a third daily flight operated on Boeing 777-300ER from March 1, 2023, complemented by its two daily Airbus A380 services, the extra frequency schedules are as follows:
- Dubai – Johannesburg Flight EK 767 DXB 23:25 – JNB 05:35+1
- Johannesburg – Dubai Flight EK 766 JNB 22:20 – DXB 08:20+1
From February 1, 2023, the airline will double its offer in Cape Town (CPT) with a second daily flight operated by Boeing 777, thus Emirates restores capacity in this sector to pre-pandemic levels, the itineraries of this extra service are as follows:
- Dubai – Cape Town Flight EK 770 DXB 09:10 – CPT 16:45
- Cape Town – Dubai Flight EK 773 CPT 13:25 – DXB 01:01+1

Two additional frequencies will also be added on the route to Durban (DUR), increasing service to daily flights from December 1, 2022 operated on Boeing 777-300ERs. By the end of the 2022/2023 winter season, Emirates will offer 42 weekly flights from its hub in Dubai (DXB) to South Africa from the nation’s three main airports.
The airline’s customers will be able to enjoy domestic and regional connections in South Africa through interline and codeshare partners: South African Airways, Airlink, FlySafair and Cemair.
Earlier this year, Emirates and the South African Tourism Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the intention of supporting the recovery of the tourism sector by boosting travel arrivals to South Africa through the airline’s network, offering more than 130 destinations across all continents from its global hub in Dubai (DXB).
Emirates has been serving South Africa for 27 years, connecting more than 20 million travelers to and from South Africa to its global network through Dubai (DXB), making it a long-term partner in aviation, tourism and trade in the African nation.
