The Dominican Republic Civil Aviation Board (JAC) approved several applications for more passenger and cargo air operations from Dominican territory to the United States, France, Panama and Venezuela.
Sky High request
JAC members heard the request to amend the Certificate of Economic Authorization (Certificado de Autorización Económica – CAE) of Sky High Aviation Services to include non-stop services from Santo Domingo (SDQ) to Miami (MIA), Boston (BOS), Orlando (ORL), San Juan (SJU), Saint Thomas (STT) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL); and Punta Cana (PUJ) to Miami (MIA).
According to data compiled by the Statistics Division of the Air Transportation Department of the JAC, it is estimated that during the last semester of this year, the airline would be offering around 37,830 seats, with an approximate of 20,428 passengers mobilized.
This Dominican operator is authorized to perform non-scheduled air transport services of passengers and cargo in international operations, as well as the routes established in its economic authorization certificate; they will be using Embraer E190 aircraft with a capacity of 97 seats in two classes.
Application of European operators
Copa Airlines and Lufthansa requested code-share operations on services to Panama/Tocumen (PTY) – Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Panama/Tocumen (PTY) – Punta Cana (PTY).
Air Caraïbes requested to operate the Paris Orly (ORY) – Port-au-Prince (PAP) – Punta Cana (PUJ) route with a weekly frequency (Tuesdays) from October 4, 2022 to March 28, 2023, with a total of 26 flights during this period.
Avior’s request
The JAC heard Avior Airlines’ request to amend its Operating Permit (OP) to include the Barcelona (BLA) – Santo Domingo (SDQ) service. The Venezuelan operator was authorized a Special Permit to operate this route as an amendment, in an application dated August 24, 2022.
Currently, the requested service is not included in any Operating Permit or Economic Authorization Certificate, and it is not being operated under any modality. Avior Airlines mobilized a total of 88,017 passengers from January 2021 to August 2022 between Venezuela and the Dominican Republic in 1,120 operations.
