Russian Helicopters Holding, a subsidiary of the Rostec State Corporation, unveiled its Ka-226T light multirole helicopter. The equipment was introduced during IDEX 2023 in Abu Dhabi.

The Ka-226T is a turbine-powered, light, twin-engine helicopter designed to transport cargo and passengers. Compared to the base version of the Ka-226, the payload, and range have been increased. This aircraft is distinguished by its maneuverability and versatility, as it is designed on a modular basis. Thus, its operator can convert it from passenger to air ambulance or cargo transport in half an hour.

According to Rostec, «this design solution allows 4 people to repurpose the equipment in 30 minutes.» Another essential feature is the coaxial design of its main rotor, which simplifies piloting and ensures high maneuverability and stability even under strong winds. The new Ka-226T can fly at altitudes of up to 6500 m above sea level. Its payload, meanwhile, is 1500 kg.

Its modernization made it possible to further expand the helicopter’s operational capabilities to ensure the replacement of imported components. The equipment features a modified fuselage geometry and improved aerodynamics. Its main rotor column has also been modernized, and a blade folding mechanism has been introduced. The helicopter is also equipped with an impact-resistant fuel system and a modern digital avionics system adapted for the use of night vision goggles.

Russian Helicopters Holding is the sole developer and manufacturer of helicopters in Russia. The company was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Moscow.
