On March 16, Viva Aerobus received its 70th aircraft, a new Airbus A321neo registered XA-VXI . An all-female team entirely performed the ferry flight of the unit.
The new aircraft took off from Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (XFW) at 09:55 local time and landed at General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (MTY) at 18:32, after more than 8 hours. The flight made a technical stop in Bangor, United States (BGR).
Viva Aerobus now has 42 Airbus A320s and 28 Airbus A321s with an average age of 5.2 years: the low-cost airline has the youngest aircraft fleet in Mexico.
Supported by this fleet expansion, the company is responding to sustained passenger growth and its route expansion strategy. This year, the company has added two new routes to its schedule: Cancun (CUN) – Quito (UIO) and Monterrey (MTY) – Bogota (BOG).
Also, the service between Tijuana (TIJ) and Felipe Angeles Airport (NLU) has been changed from seasonal to year-round operation. The reactivation of the Monterrey (MTY) – Mexicali (MXL) route and the increase of operations between Guadalajara (GDL) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) are two high points of Viva’s 2023.
