Porter Airlines starts new flights from Ottawa

On March 27, Porter Airlines began expanding its operations at Ottawa Airport (YOW) with new service to two U.S. and one domestic destination, providing convenient travel connections in the Canadian capital.

The first service was flight PD2323, which took off from McDonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) at 08:12 local time and landed at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) at 09:25, after one hour and thirteen minutes.

«Porter Airlines continues to impress us with its commitment to Ottawa-Gatineau. Not only was it YOW Porter’s first turboprop destination in 2006, in February we were also the first to host Porter’s inaugural commercial jet service. As construction of Porter’s YOW-based hangar is underway, this new air service is another step forward as Porter airlines take advantage of the potential of the National Capital Region«, said Mark Laroche, president and CEO, Ottawa International Airport Authority.

These new Porter routes are part of its expansion into the capital city and commitment to the region, including new maintenance hangars currently under construction at YOW. These will serve as a maintenance facility for the Embraer E195-E2 fleet.

Porter’s new route schedules at Ottawa (YOW)

  • Boston (BOS): daily flights.
  • New York/Newark (EWR): two flights per day.
  • Thunder Bay (YQT): two flights per day.

All routes are operated on 78-seat De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 aircraft and promotional fares are available from USD 366 roundtrip.

Porter Ottawa

Porter is the only airline to offer year-round daily operations from Ottawa (YOW) to Boston (BOS) and Thunder Bay (YQT). With the start of the new services, it brings the airline’s number of routes in YOW to eight. In addition, the carrier also has a ninth route scheduled from the Canadian capital to Charlottetown (YYG) beginning May 17.

«This builds on our already extensive network in eastern Canada and substantially increases the number of destinations served directly from Ottawa. Porter connects passengers from coast to coast, with the level of service and generosity that economy class travelers deserve«, said Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines.
